NIFA Financial Consumer Protection and Training Committee (hereinafter referred to as “Committee”) held the second 2019 work meeting in Beijing on December 30. The meeting was presided over by Committee Chairman Chu Bende and attended by Yin Youping, Vice Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Director of the Financial Consumer Protection Bureau of the PBC, Li Jianmin, Vice President of the China Human Resources Association, Li Qian, NIFA Chief Officer of Public Affairs, Zhang Chao, Deputy Director of the Disciplinary Bureau of the CSRC, and Li Haibo, Deputy Director of the Investor Protection Bureau of the CSRC. Also present were Committee members and experts from the Committee research group.
The meeting studied and discussed the “Notice of Further Regulating Financial Marketing and Publicity Activities” jointly issued by the PBC, the CBIRC, the CSRC, and SAFE, and listened to the report on the research progress of the Committee’s 2019 key research project “practices and exploration of digital financial consumer protection”. Members and experts discussed the framework and content of the preliminary 60,000-word report drafted by the research group based on interviews, questionnaires, and literature analysis, and agreed on work arrangements for the next step.
Chairman Chu pointed out in his concluding remarks that the project of the Committee has progressed smoothly and achieved quality preliminary results. He hopes that this project can provide beneficial reference for regulatory rule design, industry self-regulatory construction, and enterprise business practices of financial consumer protection in China. It’s also expected that the members would work together to make the Committee a place for the promotion of policies and regulations with high social influence and industry guiding force in the area of financial consumer protection and training, a platform for research cooperation and communication, a base for standards R&D and a center for capacity building evaluation.
